national night out event
Thanks to all the WHNA Neighbors that made it to our Watrous Heights Neighborhood Association hosting of the National Night Out event. This was to honor our local police and fire department.

The neighbors that were there all seemed to have fun and clearly the kids loved it.

For those that were unable to get to the event, we hope to see you there next year. We already are planning for additional features to add to next years event.

We believe the Park Avenue School Grounds provided an ideal location for our event.

It was hard to tell what the kids liked best. They loved the face-painting and removable tattoos. They loved playing soccer against an Iowa State Champ. They had different games and more than enough hot dogs and/or candy. Some of them were lucky enough to get a "stickem" Police Badge put on their shirt by our local police officer Sgt. Scarlett.

One of the top favorites for the kids was being able to climb into a "Very Large" ladder truck fully supplied with a crew of real firemen.

We all were honored with the presence of Chief-of-Police Dana Wingert. Many of the adults had an opportunity to talk with our County Supervisor Matt McCoy and our City Councilman Joe Gatto.

We owe special thanks to the Kum and Go Store located at SW 9th and Watrous for their help with this event.

Our special thanks to all the WHNA Neighbors that helped make this happen.

The pictures taken during the event will give you some idea of the fun.
